I started calling myself a calligrapher after picking up a Dollar Store workbook and a Crayola brush pen on a whim in 2019. It was love at first stroke—I’d finally found the thing that made me, me. What began as simple curiosity quickly grew into a passion, and in 2020 I launched ManicItalic.com to share my work with others. Since then, I’ve created custom commissions for clients across the U.S., transforming heartfelt letters, antique marriage certificates, poems, and favorite song lyrics into keepsakes filled with meaning and memory. I’m especially drawn to projects that celebrate love, honor loss, and preserve personal stories through beautiful lettering.

Wanting to share what I’ve learned from the calligraphers who inspired me, I founded Scribe Time in 2024, a free, low-barrier monthly gathering where Portland scribes, artists, and curious beginners can create together, share skills, and build community. Free supplies are always available, making it easy for anyone to explore calligraphy in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
